My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship

I felt happy and thankful to the Hinrich foundation and TBS Group for giving me this great opportunity. I was also really proud of being chosen for the scholarship from among many qualified applicants. The scholarship will help me develop my career as a skillful engineer.

Why I’m interested in trade

Trade is essential to everyone. Our daily life is greatly improved by global trade because it creates job opportunities and better living standard for people around the world.

What this scholarship opportunity means to me

This scholarship opens many doors for me. It allows me to get a higher education, experience living abroad and offers a great job opportunity. To me, it is the greatest honor in my life.

The international experiences I’m most looking forward to

I would like to establish network and establish strong relationships with international students and professors. I also would like to learn about different cultures from them.

What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home and why

I will bring my smartphone to remind me of home. This is because there are a lot of photos of my family, my friends and places that I had been to in my country, as well as several local songs, stored in my phone.

My favorite hobbies and other interests

My hobbies are reading, writing, listening to music, playing football and playing games. Sometimes, I attend music festivals and parties with my friends to have fun.

My proudest achievement so far in life

Being awarded the Global Production Engineering and Management scholarship at the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) by the Hinrich Foundation and TBS Group is my proudest achievement. I am so proud of winning this scholarship because I competed with many qualified applicants to receive the award.

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life

I never think of any problem as an obstacle. Instead, I regard problems as good learning experiences. So, I do not have any obstacle in my life. I just have some good learning experiences.

During my first job as a sales engineer, I faced many difficulties. For example, I had to call new customers to introduce them to the products, but I was shy to talk with strangers. I tried my best, however, and learned from seniors. After six months, I had overcome the problem, and I could even sell to competitors of the company.

My future goals and aspirations

I want to pursue a career at the management level of TBS Group after graduation. I also plan to become a trainer to share my knowledge with young engineers in my country.

How I plan to give back and help others

I plan share the knowledge and skills that I will learn during my stay at VGU with the next generation to support the development of my country.

Personal statement

Being a scholar pursuing Master of Science in Global Production Engineering and Management at VGU is my greatest achievement. I am really thankful to the Hinrich Foundation and TBS Group for fully supporting my studies and living in Vietnam. I am committed to try my best in my studies and, after graduation, my work with the TBS Group.

Studying abroad has been a dream of mine since childhood. Now, I can accomplish my dream though my own effort with the help of the Hinrich Foundation and TBS Group. I am really excited to experience a new environment, learn new subjects and make new friends. During my studies, I will try to establish a strong network with students, alumni and professors to get more opportunities and develop myself in the future. I will share my knowledge with the next generation to help in the development of my country.

This opportunity gives me a key to run an engine that will take me to a new level of my life.

Story about Zarni Lynn

I was born in 1994 in Yangon, Myanmar, as the youngest of two children. My father is a marine engineer, while my mother is a housewife.

I have wanted to be an engineer since I was young because I admire engineers a lot and am interested in what they do. Consequently, after passing high school, I chose to study mechanical engineering at West Yangon Technological University.

After graduation, I worked as a sales engineer in DKSH (Myanmar) Ltd. As a sales engineer, I needed to do more sales activities than technical jobs. Nonetheless, I have several success stories during my time as a sales engineer.

I found out about the scholarship from a website and got really interested. I applied for the scholarship and passed through many sessions of exams and interviews. Finally, I was chosen as a successful candidate.

In the future, I will try to build a successful career by using the knowledge gained from this scholarship and contribute to the growth of my company, my friends, my colleagues and my country as much as I can.
