JAKARTA, Indonesia, Feb. 23, 2017The Hinrich Foundation released the Indonesia Sourcing Report: Basketware with the support of its partner in export development, Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL).

The online report includes websites of 15 verified exporter suppliers, along with sample products and full company information. Report highlights eco-friendly, multipurpose products

Many basketware suppliers in Indonesia are expanding their environment-friendly selections. In addition to rattan, makers are using pandan, mendong, water hyacinth, bamboo and other sustainable materials, which are available throughout the country. Some companies are also using natural dyes extracted from plants such as turmeric and morinda.

Basketware makers are offering multifunction models such as bicycle baskets that can double as shopping baskets. These models, which can be strapped to the front of a bicycle, come with a foldable handle that allows them to function as shopping baskets once unstrapped from the bicycle.

“Multifunction, space-saving baskets that can be used as décor are new models from basketware suppliers in Indonesia,” said Emerela Puspita, Hinrich Foundation’s export consultant for Indonesia. “These baskets will feature natural materials such as rattan and organic dyes to cater to the growing demand for eco-friendly products. Black is also expected to be in-demand, particularly from buyers in Europe.”
