My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship

My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship was extremely surprised. I would never forget the day when I received the congratulation letter from Hinrich Foundation. Actually, I concern about this program for a long time. And fortunately, my effort finally turned into reality.

Why I’m interested in trade

I’m interested in trade because trade especially sustainable trade can better everyone’s life. As Mr. Hinrich said, sustainable global trade promotes peace. In 21st century, trade especially global trade is an unstoppable trend. With the development of trade, economic will win a precious opportunity of growth and people’s life quality will improve since more high quality products with lower price and more resources are available. Thus the connections in economic field among countries will be strengthen, which means the peace among countries will be strengthen too and people’s life will be better.

What this scholarship opportunity means to me

This scholarship opportunity is more than an award for me. Apart from the scholarship to cover the relevant fees in HKBU, this scholarship also provide an unbelievable growth opportunity for me, which cultivate my leadership and equip me with skills for the future job in trade field.

The international experiences I’m most looking forward to

The international experiences I’m most looking forward include studying in Hong Kong Baptist University, developing my international perspective and making friends with those from different cultural background.

What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home

If let me bring one thing to my dorm to remind me of home, I would bring Kung Fu Tea to my dormitory. Since I was from ChaoShan area, eastern part of Guangdong province, China, I am fond of drinking a kind of tea that we call Kung Fu Tea. People in Chaoshan area nearly all like to drink this tea. And drinking Kung Fu Tea is also a cultural card of Chaoshan people and can remind me of my hometown.

My favorite hobbies and other interests

My favorite hobby is reading. I always believe that reading is a useful way to enrich our knowledge and enhance our competitiveness even though the books are unrelated with our major. Moreover, I also like visiting some cultural landscapes to cultivate my humanity and playing table tennis for relaxation.

My proudest achievement so far in life

My proudest achievement so far in life is my perseverance to keep moving. In fact, I am not those students who have been excellent when they were young. But I believe god help those who help themselves. I always need to work hard to fulfill my every little dream but I never give up. Luckily, thanks to my perseverance to keep moving, I can make progress time after time.

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life happened in my Year 2 university life. At that time I participated in five competitions and took part in two certificate exams. What’s more, I still need to prepare for the application and interview of Hinrich Global Trade Leader Scholarship. Time was so limited to me and it was a challenge for me to balance so much tasks. But finally I make it one by one.

My future goals and aspirations

After my graduation, I will work for Global Sources and seek career advancement opportunities by my endeavor. After working for several years, I plan to get my master degree if possible. As for my dream, I sincerely want to promote sustainable global trade and better Chinese business world by my effort.

How I plan to give back and help others

I will do my utmost in working for Global Sources to promote sustainable global trade and be the volunteer to participate in some relevant charity bazaars to support those who need help.
