I am Myat May Zin and a Hinrich Global Trade Leader Scholar for AY 2013-14. I am studying International Journalism studies for Master degree at Hong Kong Baptist University.

I graduated with chemical engineering from Government Technological University in Myanmar in 2008. I attended the Community development and Civic Empowerment course under the social science department at Chiang Mai University.

In 2008, Nargic cyclone hit Delta area of Myanmar and I worked as a volunteer for emergency relief for informal education at PIIM (Peace Interfaith Initiative Myanmar) which is one of the Civil Society group under the umbrella of British Council based in Myanmar.

I had done two research papers about media development in Myanmar and perspectives of reporters on 2010 election, which is first election during twenty years in Myanmar. Moreover, I got a scholarship to attend Mass Communication course at Myanmar Egress institute in Yangon in 2009.

I had worked as business reporter at a couple of media outlet in Myanmar. My experience in Journalism field is nearly four years. Studying Journalism course in Hong Kong makes me to realize my weakness and strengthen in journalism skills and better understanding international media industry.

I totally believe that I can work as a professional reporter in media industry back home after I graduated. And then my study significantly will support me to achieve career goals in many ways. In second semester, I took new business related subject, Advertising management, which can help me better understanding on consumer insight as well as brand strategies.

Many thanks to Hinrich Foundation for giving me a chance to study in Hong Kong and giving me a hand to improve my skills and knowledge during my study.
