My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship

My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship: When I learned that I got the prestigious scholarship, I burst with joy and said subconsciously, “Oh my God, Thanks to give me the honor to be one of the first three from all over Bangladesh! Alhamdulillah…

Why I’m interested in trade

I strongly believe in the positive correlation between trade, peace and prosperity. I am particularly enthused to achieve global peace and I believe, in this twenty-first century, sustainable global trade can be turned into one of the key global instruments to achieve peace and prosperity.

What this scholarship opportunity means to me

At first, the scholarship opportunity means to me as an opportunity to pursue my MSc in a renowned university through which I can develop my knowledge and skills in an international environment. Secondly, the scholarship give me the opportunity to take part in different excellent and mind-blowing programs organized by Hinrich foundation and VF Asia which are the opportunity to make myself as a Global Trade Leader. Finally, the scholarship provide me the opportunity to contribute to the global peace and prosperity.

The international experiences I’m most looking forward to

Trying all the different cultural food, working in international organization as a volunteer, collecting cultural stories.

What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home

I brought an embroidered quilt called “Nakshi Katha”, a centuries-old Bengali art tradition in Bangladesh, made by my mother to remind me of home. It also reminds me my family and my country as well.

My favorite hobbies and other interests

My favorite hobbies are traveling, camping and I always passionate to do volunteering works, to do something to help others.

My proudest achievement so far in life

My favorite hobbies are traveling, camping and I always passionate to do volunteering works, to do something to help others.

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life

When I was in undergraduate level, my father’s business was not good at that time and my family was passing a hard time to manage the large family. Even my family tend to decide to stop my younger (four) brothers to go to school. As elder son of my parent, to continue not only my study but also my younger brothers and sister, I took the responsibility to manage all study related cost. I worked at different projects, part time jobs, did home tutorship throughout my undergrad level. I had to struggle hard but I have successfully done it. Now, all of my younger brothers and sister are studying at different renowned institution in Bangladesh.

My future goals and aspirations

My future goals and aspirations includes, to be an engineer with in-depth technical know-hows, career development with an international organization, and finally, develop myself as such a person that I can create some job opportunity and contribute to social development and global peace.

How I plan to give back and help others

I plan to give back and help others by doing voluntary works, by creating job opportunity and motivating people to do the same thing.

Personal statement

I have chosen to pursue a career in the international industry because my family, both past and present, have made a career in fabric manufacturing. Keeping this in mind, I applied for the “VF-Hinrich Foundation Global Trade Leader Scholarship”, which is fantastically designed, to have quality education and comprehensive career development opportunities for postgraduate study in fields related to trade, communication and development in Asia and to meet my desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives through export trade promotion. Now, being a scholar I feel blessed to have opportunity not only to pursue my post-graduation but also to develop my career at a prestigious platform. It is bare description that I am grateful to the hinrich foundation team. The evergreen team is continuously helping to overcome all the complications, arranging different programs to learn by fun. All of which have a positive implication to develop myself as a global citizen. From my standpoint, I may definitely hope that the journey with HF team will be a marvelous one and I will be able to make my life truly meaningful, I will be able to contribute to the society with my fullest esteem.

Story about Miah Ramzan

I was born on the day before Eid al-fitr, the final day of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). To remind my birth month, the holy Ramadan, my grandfather gave my name, Ramzan. And my perception regarding this is that “My birth is to celebrate (Feast) by eradicating hunger from the world (Break the fast) and to contribute to peace”.

In my family, I have nine wonderful members; my parents and my six siblings. Except my elder sister, all are studying at different renowned institutions. From my early life I have been seeing that my parents work very hard to maintain such a big family with their little income and become successful. I have a dream to make my mother achieve “Ratnagarva Maa Awrd”, which is given in our country to mother who have given birth to at least 3 children and the children are graduated and developed themselves by their own presence of mind and are well established.

I have chosen a career in the international apparel industry because my family has made its own business in fabric manufacturing and I have also inclined my future career with manufacturing. So, it would be usual if someone says “Manufacturing is in my blood”.

As I was desperate to pursue undergraduate studies in engineering, my first biggest challenge towards this was to get admitted into BUET, the best engineering university of Bangladesh. The day, in 2008, when I informed that I had qualified in BUET securing a berth among the top 400 students from all over Bangladesh, was the glorious day of my life. I am always grateful to my favorite college teachers for motivating and increasing the interest to get chance into BUET.

When I was in final year of my under graduation in Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE) at BUET, I was informed about the “VF-Hinrich Foundation Global Trade Leader Scholarship” by my favorite teacher Dr. Abdullahil Azeem. After a series of judgments when I had come to know that I got the prestigious scholarship, being one of the three from all over Bangladesh, I burst with joy. As I am particularly interested in Manufacturing and its profound implications in global trade, I feel blessed to have opportunity to pursue my post-graduation in Manufacturing Systems Engineering at Polytechnic University, a leading one in Hong Kong. It is bare description that I am grateful to the evergreen team of Hinrich Foundation helped me a lot to overcome all the complications. From my standpoint, I may definitely hope that the journey with HF team will be a marvelous one.

I believe, through the “VF-Hinrich Foundation Global Trade Leader Scholarship”, I will have quality education and comprehensive career development opportunities for postgraduate study in fields related to trade, communication and development in Asia and to meet my desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives through export trade promotion and eventually achieve a successful life for me and contribute to the society.
