My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship
My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship:The very first day I saw this scholarship announcement, I really wished to get this lifetime opportunity to shape my future career and to experience the business in the global environment. Every step of the selection process was a long wait for me. I was nervous too when the time for the result announcement. It was such a memorable day when I learned I had been awarded this scholarship. I celebrated this event with my friends and colleagues. After that, I never looked back and started preparing myself to arrive in Hong Kong and start my graduate studies.
Why I’m interested in trade
During my undergraduate studies in Industrial & Production Engineering, some subjects like Operations Management, Quality Management, Manufacturing Process, Product Design, etc. made me very interested to working in the field of trade to make some meaningful contributions. So I began my internship in an apparel manufacturing company as the apparel industry is the main trade sector in Bangladesh. My interests kept growing. These have helped me to shape my career and choose the track of manufacturing as the professional work area.I wish to work for global trade and contribute to making it sustainable.
What this scholarship opportunity means to me
This scholarship means to me a gateway to the world; a lifetime opportunity to pursue higher study in one of the reputed universities in the world, as well as experience life in Hong Kong, the major global trade hub and financial center which is regarded as a world city. These will help me to sharpen my educational knowledge as well as cultural awareness, which will help me to contribute to sustainable global trade.
The international experiences I’m most looking forward
To know more about the business process in different countries in the fields of apparel manufacturing and footwear manufacturing to have a global view of trade. I am looking forward to knowing about the cultural aspects of different countries too.
What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home
Pictures are the best way to me to recall memories. I have brought all the pictures in my laptop as well as a photoalbum. Whenever I want to see my friends and family and miss home, I just keep looking at those photos.
My favorite hobbies and other interests
Traveling is my favorite hobby. I also enjoy photography and have a keen interest inknowing about different cultures. So I try to utilize every opportunity I get to engage in my hobbies.
My proudest achievement so far in life
I must recall the memory of being able to attend the most esteemed engineering university in Bangladesh for my undergraduate studies and receiving the Hinrich Foundation scholarship in 2015.
The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life
I was a bit shy and introverted. The world was so small to me. I have overcome this with time by participating in different activities, making new friends and building up my presentation skill.
My future goals and aspirations
Throughout my study and working life, I have observed how a simple and meaningful contribution can bring about a positive change in an organization and trade. I want to utilize my skills and experience to contribute to sustainable global trade.
How I plan to give back and help others
I want to help others to overcome their limitations similar to the ones I had by giving sincere suggestions and guidelines and motivate others to build a career that will help them to make some meaningful contribution to the trade.
To sustain and grow through the fierce global competition in business, there is no other way for the companies but to improve logistics and supply chain efficiency, apply work methods engineering, optimize resources to maximize output and ensure quality. I want to sharpen my skills as a professional industrial engineer to help them achieving that. I am really thankful to the Hinrich Foundation for providing me such an opportunity to build a global career and experience the world.
