US-China trade relations panel at EWC International Media Conference
On June 26, 2018, the Hinrich Foundation hosted a plenary panel on US-China trade tensions at the East-West Center’s (EWC) International Media Conference in Singapore. The panel – titled “Pulling back from the bring: Can a US-China trade war be averted?”— was attended by hundreds of international media professionals.
Michael Enright presents new US FDI in China report
On July 13, 2017, author Michael J. Enright presented findings from a ground-breaking new white paper report on the impact of U.S. foreign direct investment (FDI) and U.S. companies on China’s economy. The event was held by the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and attended by members across the government, business and academic sectors.
Hinrich Foundation Research Fellow Stephen Olson addressed the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) on February 23, 2017. Olson offered insights on the potential impact of U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies on U.S. trade relations to a room filled with HKGCC members and guests.
The Hinrich Foundation presented its new book “Developing China: The Remarkable Impact of Foreign Direct Investment” by Michael J. Enright on Tuesday, November 15th at a luncheon event in Hong Kong. Influential members from across the community gathered to celebrate the Hong Kong launch of the book, including Consul Generals, government representatives, business leaders and the academic community.

Hinrich Foundation Sustainable Trade Index briefing in Manila
The Hinrich Foundation, in partnership with Asia Society Philippines and with the support of the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines, hosted a briefing event for the inaugural Sustainable Trade Index (STI) on August 25th, 2016 in Manila.
The Hinrich Foundation was pleased to sponsor a timely and informative workshop convened by the Mansfield Foundation, entitled “The Rule of Law: Vietnam and the TPP”. The event was held in Hanoi, Vietnam on June 8th and 9th, 2016, in partnership with the University of Economics and Business-Vietnam National University and Hong Kong University (HKU). Hinrich Foundation Research Fellow, Stephen Olson provided a presentation on “Sustainable Trade in Vietnam: Lessons from the Hinrich Foundation Sustainable Trade Index”.
Hinrich Foundation launches Sustainable Trade Index
On April 28th, 2016, the Hinrich Foundation launched the inaugural version of the Sustainable Trade Index in Hong Kong. The Index measures nineteen economies in Asia and the US across the three recognized pillars of sustainability: economic (“profit”), social (“people”), and environmental (“planet”).
