Hinrich Global Trade Leaders AY 2016 – 2017 graduate with flying colors
Dear Hinrich Foundation alumni and friends,
Time flies and we are marking amazing milestones for some of our Hinrich Global Trade Leaders.
We are very proud that many of our Global Trade Leaders have graduated with outstanding results and are ready to embark on new careers. These Global Trade Leaders are:
Mohammad Nurun Nobi from Bangladesh graduated in February 2017 with a master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management, a program jointly offered by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the University of Warwick under the Integrated Graduate Development Scheme (IGDS). Nobi won the Best Project of the Year for his thesis “Implementation of Supply Chain Sustainability and Lean Manufacturing in the Leather and Footwear Industry of Bangladesh.”

Najmul Haque, Nobi’s classmate who is also from Bangladesh, was awarded Student of the Year by Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Nobi and Najmul are now with VF Corp., one of the Hinrich Foundation’s partner companies, working as plant engineers in Dhaka and helping the Fortune 500 company’s footwear production become more efficient.
Sapphire (Ngoc) Nguyen from Vietnam, who is pursuing a master’s degree in Global Management at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in the US, graduated with distinction in December 2017.
Sapphire did her three-month work placement from May to August 2017 with Hinrich Global Trade Leader Khiem Vu in Global Sources’ Vietnam office, helping to grow Startup Launchpad’s regional business. She will soon start further building her career with the company at its financial office in Hong Kong.
Ivy Huang, Destinee Luo and Yanwen Law, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Hong Kong Baptist University in December 2017, were among the top performers of their class.
As the first batch under the Hinrich Global Trade Leader Development Program’s work-integrated learning approach, the trio underwent an internship in our partner companies to gain practical work experience before finishing their final semester in December this year.
Ivy and Destinee went to Li & Fung, one of the leading sourcing companies in Hong Kong, while Law went to Shenzhen to serve as an intern for Global Sources.
The trio had extensive exposure to professional settings even before graduation through various extracurricular activities organized by the university and the Foundation, including volunteer work, study tours, trade shows and training workshops.
Ivy, Destinee and Law will start the next phase of their journey as Hinrich Global Trade Leaders. Let’s congratulate them and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
We firmly believe they will advance further in their careers, writing their own success stories and becoming leaders who make a positive impact through their work.
We look forward to sharing with you more good news about Hinrich Global Trade Leaders.
