Online report features 12 export suppliers offering casual, formal, sports and children’s shoes, plus details on product pricing and supply market trends

DELHI, IndiaThe Hinrich Foundation released the India Sourcing Report: Footwear 2017 with the support of its partner in export development, Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL).

The online report offers import buyers websites of 12 verified exporter suppliers and profiles casual, formal, sports and children’s shoes. It also features an overview of the industry, new product features, price guides and export data. PDFs of each section are available to download for free online.

Report highlights colorful casual footwear

Known for producing traditional leather footwear with intricate patterns, India footwear suppliers will be adding more flip-flops and casual shoes with colorful embroidery, prints or embellishments to their selections. Comfort and durability remain top of mind in their efforts to enhance their products’ aesthetic value.

“In the next few months, footwear suppliers in India will be releasing models that offer comfort, as well as colorful and simple designs,” said Bushra Baseerat, Hinrich Foundation’s export consultant for India. “Loafers, for instance, are being made with canvas in a variety of bright colors such as blue, red and mustard.”

The adoption of environment-friendly raw materials is also growing. The latest releases include designs that use bamboo fabric lining and vegetable dyes.

The wide range of raw materials available domestically is a major strength of India’s footwear sector. For one, the country produces over 2 billion square feet of leather each year, accounting for about 13 percent of global output, according to

Suppliers and products

Established in 1978, Kayvee Footwear in New Delhi offers casual, sports and children’s footwear. The company’s selection includes men’s canvas shoes featuring various colors and patterns.

Another producer, Maven Impex in Uttar Pradesh, has been manufacturing footwear for men, women and children since 2008. Among its products are women’s flat and heeled sandals with studs or colorful bead trimming.

In addition to Kayvee Footwear and Maven Impex, suppliers featured in the report are:

– Export Leather World, Rajasthan: Men’s leather boots, loafers and dress shoes.

– Hi Rel Exports, Uttar Pradesh: Men’s leather and suede loafers; and women’s leather boots and sandals.

– Jutawale, Gujarat: Men’s sports shoes and slip-on canvas shoes.

– Maharaja Shoes, Uttar Pradesh: Women’s synthetic leather sandals.

– Mojari Exporters, Rajasthan: Women’s mojaris and leather slippers.

– Nagar Enterprises, Rajasthan: Women’s beaded and embroidered sandals; and children’s footwear.

– Nicholas Shoes, Uttar Pradesh: Men’s running shoes, sandals, loafers and boots.

– Raj International Exports, Punjab: Men’s sports shoes.

– Schon Fashions, New Delhi: Men’s and women’s flip flops; and women’s sandals and ballet flats.

– Smart Feet, New Delhi: Men’s canvas slip-on shoes and PU slippers; women’s PU flip-flops and sandals; and children’s shoes.

The report further shows:

– In 2016, India’s exports of footwear and related parts amounted to nearly $2.75 billion, according to data from DESA/UNSD, United Nations Comtrade database.

– The US, the UK, Germany, France and Italy were the top five importers of footwear from India, together accounting for 55 percent of the export value.

– Agra in the state of Uttar Pradesh is considered the largest footwear hub in the country. It has a history of shoemaking that dates back to the 16th century, according to data from the Institute for Human Development – India.
