NEW DELHI, Nov. 10, 2016 – The Hinrich Foundation released the India Sourcing Report: Home decor with the support of its partner in export development, Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL).

The online report includes complete details of 15 export suppliers and profiles home accessories, vases and pottery, and home textiles. The report also features industry information, new product features, price guides and export data. PDFs of each section are available to download for free online.

Report highlights industry’s use of domestically sourced, natural materials
Leveraging on its access to ample raw materials and a large number of artisans, India’s home decor industry offers a range of handcrafted pieces made of cotton, silk, wood and natural stone. Amid increasing global demand for environment-friendly products, many companies are also adopting sustainable materials such as bamboo and jute.

In terms of design, the combination of traditional and modern elements is expected to remain a trend. Many releases are also anticipated to feature new colors or finishes, according to a supplier survey.

The report further shows:

  • Most home decor manufacturers in India are categorized under the handicraft sector, exports of which are expected to increase 10 percent in the fiscal year ending March 2017.
  • North America and Europe will remain the main overseas markets.

“Business prospects are good for the Indian home decor industry this fiscal,” said Ankit Goyal, owner of Deshilp Overseas based in Uttar Pradesh. “More and more overseas buyers are choosing Indian handcrafted products over mechanized ones manufactured in other countries. We are getting good business from Europe, US and the Middle East.”
