Moon Nguyen is a Hinrich Global Trade Leader Scholar who is currently finishing her MA in International Journalism at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). This is following on from her one-year work placement with the Foundation’s marketing team in Ho Chi Minh City. She has been invited to present a recent paper in Manila, Philippines by the Asian Journalism Research Conference (AJRC).

Encouraging journalism research

The Asian Journalism Research Conference (AJRC), a program of the University of the Philippine’s College of Mass Communication in Quezon City, Metro Manila. The goal of the organization is to encourage research in the field of journalism while providing students a venue to share their research and papers. On 24 April, Moon will be presenting her paper during the Asian Journalism Research Conference 2017 in front of journalism and mass communication academe. Among those is keynote speaker, Cherian George, HKBU Professor and alumnus of Stanford, Columbia and Cambridge.

Keynote by HKBU Professor, Stanford University. He has a Masters from Columbia University’s School of Journalism and a B.A. in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University.

Who is Cherian George?

A writer and academic engaged in journalism research, education and advocacy, Cherian George is an associate professor in the journalism department of Hong Kong Baptist University, where he also serves as director of the Centre for Media and Communication Research. His research interests center on freedom of expression, especially in connection to journalism and public discourse. He studies censorship, media systems and alternative media. He received his Ph.D. in Communication from Stanford University. He has a Masters from Columbia University’s School of Journalism and a B.A. in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University.
