It also features an overview of the industry, new product features, price guides and export data. A PDF of the report is available to download for free online.

Handcrafted designs for different styles offered

Ceramics from the country range from building and industrial products to household and decorative ceramics. In the latter category, which is the main focus of the report, the selection includes tableware, kitchenware, home decor and garden ornaments.

Models in terra cotta, earthenware, stoneware, porcelain and china are available. Production remains labor-intensive in the majority of companies, with most steps still done by hand.

“Unique handmade designs is an advantage of Vietnam’s ceramic sector amid the proliferation of mass-produced items,” said Ly Nguyen, export consultant of the Hinrich Foundation.

Selections show Eastern and Western influences. Options for plates, bowls, tea sets and vases, for instance, include traditional Chinese, Japanese and English styles. Modern asymmetric or novelty designs depicting flowers, leaves, fruit, vegetables and animals are also available.

For decorative surface details, carved or painted illustrations of flowers, leaves and other objects in nature are popular. Scenes, architecture and figures in local legends and history are also common.
