My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship
The very first moment when I saw the email announcing this scholarship, I could not believe in my eyes and I reverted to the email again to see if there was any “NOT” or “NO” words there in the sentence to avoid my misunderstanding.
Inspired by previous scholars of the program, who possess excellent work performance and impressive capabilities, I hope that I can further my study to reach their level.
So when I was confirmed that the scholarship application was successful, I felt very much excited..
Why I’m interested in trade
I would like to say that starting from choosing English as my major in university, I have realized that my future career would be tied with foreign trade.
As you may notice that my first job after graduation was directly related to trade where I worked in product manufacturing and exporting. My second job which was with Global Sources and has lasted for over 9 years, is closely tied with trade. The longer I work in Global Sources, the deeper understanding I have that Global Sources is a facilitator to Global Trade and a peace maker to the World!
What this scholarship opportunity means to me
This scholarship opens a much broader door for me to learn about the world. It enables me to absorb more profound knowledge in economy and trade, to enhance my public presentation and interpersonal communication skills, to expand my friendship network, to understand and fulfill the mission to be a global trade facilitator.
The international experiences I’m most looking forward to
I’m most looking forward to travelling around to more countries to have a more profound understand of their culture and economy.
What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home
Pictures and videos are the most direct way to help me to recall my memories.
My favorite hobbies and other interests
Since my daughter was born, I was reborn as well. I started gaining interest in Chinese medicine and cooking. Professional wise, I am keen in marketing skills such as SEM and Social media aspects as well as the photo editing and video production. After starting my study in HKPU, I am much eager to learn economy with my utmost to analyze the current Chinese economy status. I feel that life is so enjoyable that I can learn what I want to learn.
My proudest achievement so far in life
The proudest achievement so far in my life is that I am awarded the Global Trade Leader Scholarship in 2016.
The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life
I am introvert thus not good at public presentation, although I understand that this skill is critical to my work and my future success. The largest obstacle I’ve overcome is my dedication to perform as best as I can. I’ve tried to speak as frequent as possible in class, to read and think as much as I can, to imitate the others’ presentation skills as much as I can.
My future goals and aspirations
Throughout my study and working life, I hope I can gain expertise in helping solving the business obstacles between the Asian and West Countries. As we know that there are a lot of culture and recognition difference in between each other, will there be any simple and quick way to assist in solving this?
How I plan to give back and help others
I have always been helped by others since I was born, I always feel grateful to them. I hope I can provide my sincere guidance to them when they are in need and I can provide my hard work and dedication to the work whenever needed. Above all, always keep grateful mind and keep kindness!
To sustain and compete in global business, I want to sharpen my skills and professionality as much as possible to contribute my great effort in this sustainable trade business. I appreciate Global Sources and Hinrich Foundation’s support providing me such an precious opportunity to build a global career and experience the world.
