My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship

My dream of studying abroad had come true, and that having this opportunity would lead me to a better life and a better future. I also realized that I would have to get out of my comfort zone and face new challenges.

Why I’m interested in trade

Even local hypermarkets or stores require trade. Internationally, countries can benefit from trade through lower costs, investments and production efficiency. Trade also is very important because it also creates jobs and promotes peace among countries.

What this scholarship opportunity means to me

It is like my flashlight while I’m in the dark. I will use it to create a path for myself. Hopefully, it will lead me to a brighter future.

The international experiences I’m most looking forward to

Understanding other countries’ cultures, living standards, traditions and mindsets. I am rather curious and want to learn as much as I can, particularly from outstanding professionals in foreign companies.

What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home and why

My smartphone. It is enough for me because it contains many photos of my family. I can also use it to talk to them when I’m missing home.

My favorite hobbies and other interests

Reading empowering books, playing sports every morning and watching comedies. I also like biographical movies such as “The Pursuit of Happiness”, as I enjoy learning about the past and struggles of successful people. I am also passionate about teaching children, who can’t afford to study in school but are very eager to learn.

My proudest achievement so far in life

This scholarship. Getting an advanced degree and international exposure and experience will improve my life and lead me to a good path and a better future.

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life

I had one particular difficulty in my life, and that is losing my father. Although I knew that death is the only certain thing in life and that everybody must face it, I had a difficult time back then. I got through it by thinking that my father wouldn’t have wanted me to feel that way and that I still had my mother. I had to encourage myself to stay strong and think about my love for my family.

My future goals and aspirations

Women are better off today but still far from being equal with men – and this is why I want to be a powerful and successful career woman someday. I hope to do this by constantly learning new things and knowing the latest developments in my field. I also want to make the most of my life by doing good deeds and helping the people around me.

How I plan to give back and help others

Helping those in need. I will impart what I studied in VGU, particularly to people who are eager to learn. I will also volunteer and give donations to help communities.

Personal statement

I believe that determination, passion and persistence are essential to achieving success. These have helped me earn this scholarship, so I believe nothing is impossible if I keep these in mind. Challenges and failures are inevitable, so I will take them, along with all the lessons and life experiences, and use them to improve my life.

Story about Zin Htar Oo

When I was in my teens, I had a dream of studying abroad. However, since I had little knowledge about scholarships, I thought studying overseas was impossible because of my family’s financial situation. This is why after graduating with a degree in electronics and communication, I made up my mind to work and no longer pursue a master’s degree.

However, I was in luck. Through a Facebook group , I learned about the GPEM scholarship, which I immediately applied for. When I was awarded the scholarship, I was so pleased, and I could not help imagining my dreams coming true.

This scholarship is so much better than what I had imagined, and I will always be thankful for all the support I received.
