My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship

My excitement is beyond words. It turns to be a new chapter in my university life to encounter new things & people with different backgrounds in Hong Kong.

Why I’m interested in trade

It surrounds us in real life from exchanging goods to a nation’s export. Personally, I cannot change the world trade pattern as a small potato, but I really feel the importance and become stronger when I learn and practice it.

What this scholarship opportunity means to me

It plays a big role in my university life. I can feel my personal change –from an immature student to an open-minded & responsible team player after I receive this scholarship.

The international experiences I’m most looking forward to

I am always looking forward to a study & foreign life tour once in my lifetime. Meet with people with diversified culture background. And I will try my best to enjoy different lifestyles & worldviews and build my own in the future.

What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home

I will bring one kind of preserved vegetables made by my grandmother to my dorm. It is a familiar taste for family warmness.

My favorite hobbies and other interests

I am passionate about various indoor and outdoor sports, like Ping-pong, tennis, swimming, etc. And I like books, especially the ones give me inspiration on life & love. I am also interested in handmade art (pottery) starting from my middle school.

My proudest achievement so far in life

My proudest achievement so far is I was awarded Hinrich Foundation Global Trade Leader Scholarship and exchange to study in HK.

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far is when I moved to a new environment, either Guangdong or Hong Kong, I get used to local lifestyle and tastes in a very quick way.

My future goals and aspirations

My future goal is I want to equip myself & be an influencer in a specific market. I want to deliver positive and helpful information to people around me.

How I plan to give back and help others

I plan to give back through: (1) join volunteer activities to help needy people (2) share useful information and skills (3) I will continue and engage social work in my career.

Personal statement

An open & thoughtful mind, strong sense of responsibility and hard working attitude are important elements in me. Life surprises me when I was awarded as a Hinrich Foundation scholar. I love to set feet on a new environment and enjoy bunch of new friends and knowledge. And I will embrace my goal as an influencer even though there will be a lot of uncertainties or challenges.
