My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship

My first thought when I learned I was awarded this scholarship:It was more than excited when I was informed that I was elected as the Global Trade Leadership Scholar. The first thought that occurred in my mind is that I was so lucky to have such opportunity to experience a new environment and pursue my undergraduate study in field that I am interested in.

Why I’m interested in trade

“Trade make everyone better off”, this is one of the principles I found most remarkable in our micro-economy text book. And this sentence serves as the principle guiding my passion in trade.

What this scholarship opportunity means to me

To me, this scholarship opportunity now means more than an opportunity to study and taste a new environment. The summer internship in VF and guaranteed employment after graduation are things that I did not dear to think of before taking the scholarship. The scholarship did open a door for me into a brighter future.

The international experiences I’m most looking forward to

A chance to work or study aboard has long been one of my dreams. Working in a different environment with very different culture and people from diversified countries and backgrounds would certainly be one of the most exciting experiences in my life.

What I’ll bring to my dorm to remind me of home

I think my laptop would be sufficient. Pictures of families and friends are in it, and communications with families and friends are also in it. With the fast development of technology, a laptop can keep my home near me, at least on a virtual platform.

My favorite hobbies and other interests

I developed my interest in drawing and painting when I was just a little kid. I have been drawing for years and I think this would be the interest throughout my life. Besides, soccer would be the activity I am passionate about.

My proudest achievement so far in life

If I have to say something besides awarding this scholarship, I would say my proudest achievement so far is the new employee orientation materials I worked out for VF shanghai office during my summer internship there. They are “Onboarding Guideline” and “Office Support Manual”, and hopefully they could be used for some time.

The largest obstacle I’ve overcome so far in life

When I was firstly accepted to my major: International Business, I was not that happy because at that time I found my interest in learning languages. But later on, I work hard and find the interesting part of business, and even my career path.

My future goals and aspirations

I am passionate about being a successful marketer in the future, a social responsible marketer who could help promote sustainable global trade.

How I plan to give back and help others

Engaging in social works and contributing my knowledge and skills in work fields to help the needy people would be the most effective way to give back and help others in my mind.

Personal statement

I have always been proud of myself as a Hinrich Global Trade Leadership Scholar. A Scholar’s role is never confined to studying and participating in some volunteering works. It means taking up the responsibility to promote sustainable global trade, it means taking up the course of helping the needy people in the world. For now, I have been devoted in enhancing my understanding in business, especially in marketing. And I am longing for an opportunity to utilize my ability and knowledge to contribute to HF community as well as the world’s trade.
