Luu Le Khanh Tien

Scholar background

Tien joined Avery Dennison, a global leader in materials science and manufacturing with more than 30,000 employees in over 50 countries, as a Sales Executive in 2016. She was responsible for driving sales across global brands including Target, Puma, Uniqlo and Walmart. She has since held several positions within the organization and is currently a Group Account Manager, where she manages relationships with the liaison offices of a group of US retail brands with garment and footwear production in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.

Prior to Avery Dennison, Tien was a management trainee at Holcim Vietnam, a global leader in innovative and sustainable building materials, where she was engaged with the commercial, operations and supply chain sides of the business. She later worked as a Sales and Marketing Executive at Precio Fishbone.

Tien graduated from Foreign Trade University in 2014 with a bachelor‘s degree in International Finance and completed her Master of Global Trade at RMIT University through the Hinrich Global Trade Leader Scholarship Program in 2023.

Personal statement

Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to see the big picture within the international apparel and footwear sourcing industry. I have learned how strategies are shaped over time, how to be agile and the importance of adapting to  a more sustainable business model.

Being a Hinrich Foundation Global Trade leader will allow me to build upon what I’ve already learned and provide me with a better understanding of  the challenges and opportunities  facing both my organization and my industry.

The MGT will also give me insights into a range of other business sectors including agriculture, technology, logistics and healthcare. This will help me “connect the dots” between different aspects and areas of trade, providing me exposure to a wide range of new approaches and management styles. I am particular excited to work with teammates from diverse backgrounds so I can learn from them and apply what I learn to enhance my current role and aid my organization.

Being part of the Hinrich Alumni community will provide a lifetime of opportunities to network with, learn from, and share ideas with a host of cross-sector professionals industrial partners. I am grateful for the chance to meet and study with extraordinary people, and to be inspired by them to become a better version of myself and make a positive impact on society.
