The Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report (APTIR) is a major annual publication of the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). It seeks to deepen understanding of trends and developments in trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. It addresses emerging issues in trade, investment and trade facilitation policies, and impacts of these policies on countries’ abilities to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. It also offers policy options to meet the challenges of achieving sustainable trade and investment. The title of the 2017 report is “Channelling Trade and Investment into Sustainable Development”. It proposes a framework to further enhance the contribution of international trade and foreign direct investment to sustainable development. It also provides estimates of the economic, social and environmental impacts of alternative regional trade and investment liberalization policy scenarios, when implemented alone or in conjunction with selected domestic social and environmental policies.
