World economic situation by UNCTADThe World Economic Situation and Prospects 2019 report by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) offers timely warnings about a range of macroeconomic challenges facing policymakers as they aim to deliver on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The UNCTAD report projects world economy to expand at a steady pace of 3 percent in 2019 and 2020. Growth rates in many countries have risen close to their potential, while unemployment rates in several developed economies have dropped to historical lows. Short-term risks are rising, with the potential to severely disrupt economic activity and inflict significant damage on longer-term development prospects. These includes escalating trade disputes, financial stress and volatility, and an undercurrent of geopolitical tensions.
