Patrick Low
Senior Fellow, Asia Global Institute
Patrick Low is a Senior Fellow at the Asia Global Institute of the University of Hong Kong, a Senior Adviser for Tulip Consulting, and a recently appointed Research Associate at TRALAC (Trade Law Centre NPC of South Africa). He currently works in an advisory capacity and as a consultant.
He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong from 2017 to 2019, and from 2013 to 2016 was Vice President of research at the Fung Global Institute in Hong Kong. He worked for the World Trade Organization from 1995, first on trade in services and then from 1997 to 2013 as the WTO’s Chief Economist. He worked in the research arm of the World Bank in Washington D.C. from 1990 to 1994. Between 1987 and 1990 he was a consultant in México and taught at the Colegio de México. He was with the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade from 1980 to 1987.
He holds a Ph.D in economics from Sussex University and has written widely on trade and trade-related issues.
