Master of Media and Communication, Class of 2025

“Storytelling humanises complex concepts, weaving compelling visions among stakeholders. With Hinrich Foundation’s support, I aspire to fuel my passion in communication - crafting and leading narratives that foster sustainable trade.”

Scholar background

Ruby has more than three years of diverse work experience, spanning multinational corporations and start-ups in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Prior to her master’s studies, she was the Business and Partnership Manager at Vpon Big Data Group in Singapore. As an early team member, she was instrumental in establishing the new regional office and driving its expansion. Her role involved crafting go-to-market strategies and implementing sales and marketing initiatives to enhance revenue and brand awareness.

Earlier, Ruby worked at P&G in Hong Kong, where she managed integrated trade and marketing planning for personal and healthcare products across key retail channels.

She holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communication from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Personal statement

Stories matter: Not solely for creating our version of utopia but for their transformative power to improve the world. Whether a story becomes reality or remains fiction depends on how well it is crafted and communicated to stakeholders.

Unlike my peers who are drawn to artistic pursuits, my passion lies at the intersection of technology and communication. I believe sustainable global trade can be accelerated through technological advancements and effective storytelling. By pursuing a Master of Media and Communication at NTU, I aim to enhance my analytical and communication skills to become a better storyteller to not only captivate the audience but also to drive them to take real, meaningful actions. Drawing on my experience working in Hong Kong and Singapore at both a multinational cooperation and a start-up, I wish to contribute by initiating constructive discussions and bringing my perspective as an Asian media professional and citizen to the classroom and to Hinrich Foundation.

I am not simply eager to continue learning in the ever-evolving digital era, but, above all, to engage intellectually with like-minded peers and scholars. The NTU network and Hinrich family offer environments where diverse minds come together to facilities global trade.
